ACRYLIC AND COLLAGE WORK – from the SOUL 2025 series by Marcello Milanese – Archive 05 – unique piece – Title-HUNT. The paint splatter aims to represent the inner soul, and the comic expression is the external mask of the human being, with its reaction to the environment. The playing cards, or the paintings in the background of some works, symbolize the interpretation of the external world: in particular, all the elements were, before being applied to the canvas, hit by bullets, symbolizing real life. The use of vintage wallpaper creates a falsely comfortable space for the artistic representation. Milanese’s paintings are inner mirrors or exorcisms of fears, leaving interpretation to the viewer. A cinematic scene, of apparent tension, but eased by the expressions of two characters who, in reality, are the same person, in the hunt for themselves. In another interpretation, the two characters are the hunters and the prey, presenting two different human attitudes.
