The paint splash aims to represent the soul’s interior, and the comic expression is the external mask of the human being, with its reaction to the environment. The playing cards, or the backgrounds in some works, symbolize the interpretation of the external world: in particular, all elements were hit by bullets before being applied to the canvas, symbolizing real life. The use of vintage wallpaper creates a falsely comfortable space for artistic representation. Milanese’s paintings are inner mirrors or exorcisms of fears, leaving interpretation to the viewer.
