We hand pick all of our skins to make sure you get excellent quality leather. Kangaroo is by far much stronger than most other leathers and lasts much longer. Sold only in half or whole skins. We now carry light weight skins for use with smaller hawks or falcons. All leather comes with cutting instructions for best strength. Extra heavy weight, 1.2mm – 1.4mm thickness: Best uses for hood making, jesses, anklets, etc, for large female Red tails and large falcon size birds. Heavy weight hides, 1.00mm 1.2mm thickness: Best uses for hood making, jesses, anklets etc, for Tiercel falcons, Female or Male Red tails/ Gos/hawks, Harris hawks. Medium weight hides, 0.8mm – 1.0mm thickness: Best uses for hood making, jesses, anklets, braided leashes etc, for small falcons, Coopers, Sharp Shinn, Merlin, Kestrels. Light weight hides, 0.6mm – 0.8mm: Best uses for hood making, fine braiding jesses, anklets etc for Merlin, Kestrel size birds.
