This is a fabulous example of a 1920’s Art Deco cocktail ring made from the rare metal alloy branded as ‘Platinon’. Platinon is an extremely rare metal alloy produced by John Wall of Birmingham from 1922 to 1929 designed to imitate platinum. It has a natural patina and, importantly, it doesn’t tarnish. It was used for only a few years to produce high quality pieces of costume jewellery. This ring measures at a UK size P 1/2 and is marked with ‘PLATINON’ to the inside of the band.
