Amazonite Cabochon Mermaid Ring in Sterling and 18K Gold

Mermaids are one of my favorite mythical creatures. The idea of swimming deep in the sea through coral reefs with all the colorful fish, mollusks and octopus is a dream I strive to express in my work. Scales are a beautiful shimmering texture found on so many living creatures in the sea, it only seems natural to wrap them around the finger. Each scale is handcarved in wax, and the inside of the band is rounded over for the most comfortable fit. Cast using the lost wax method, this ring is then cleaned up and textured with a stipple wheel. This statement ring features a 9.6 carat amazonite cabochon which sits in an 18K gold bezel. Amazonites are known for their healing powers, which can aid in physical ailments, emotional issues, and chakra balancing. They are said to have a soothing effect on the nervous system. They open the heart chakra, relieve muscle spasms, soothe emotional trauma, and promote all forms of creativity! Lastly, they are known as the ‘gambler’s stone’ and are associated with money, luck, and overall success.
